Tempest Rising – A Nostalgic Blast with Modern Polish

As someone who grew up on Command & Conquer, especially Generals, Tempest Rising hit all the right notes. My sixth form years were filled with multiplayer sessions, hammering out GLA rushes and USA Air Force cheese with friends. That legacy is hardwired into how I enjoy RTS games—and this one absolutely channels that spirit. From the moment I jumped in, the C&C influence was clear: base building felt snappy, unit micro was rewarding, and the pacing struck a great balance between tactical play and explosive chaos. There are unmistakable nods to Generals in the art direction and faction design, which made me feel right at home. What really impressed me was the balance. Every mission felt fair, with multiple viable strategies and no faction clearly dominating. That’s a rare feat in a modern RTS, and it made my ~30 hours with the game feel consistently rewarding. I’ll definitely be jumping back in to chase some achievements. The only real disappointment? Not being able to play as the Veti. They’re dripping with style and potential and wrapped in mystery, and I’m really hoping an expansion lets us take command. For RTS fans—especially C&C veterans—Tempest Rising is more than just a throwback.... Read More

Website updates and streaming

I've finally got around to cleaning up the website, took a little bit of work and I've perhaps used Chat GPT to cut some corners....here's what I've done though; Gear section fixed and populated Blog section cleaned and paginated Schedule replaced with dynamic integration Twitter replaced with Bluesky Quotes cleaned, search implemented Random quote implemented I'm not currently streaming as much as I'd like, hopefully I'll get more used to investing more time in games and streaming. The only thing left for the site it to make it responsive - alas my motivation for that is minimal but we'll see how I get on. Read More

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

After finishing up with Dishonored 2 I moved onto Death of the Outsider, sold as a separate game this one is the last in the installments for the Dishonored series (currently). Going in, I had relatively high expectations that the developers really had a reason to sell this as a separate installment and not just DLC. The sort of things I was looking out for were better powers (specifically non-lethal options) and new mechanics that would separate the game aside from its previous installment, Dishonored 2. Sadly to say, it didn't really deliver. In the Death of the Outsider you play as Billie Lurk, which wasn't much of a spoiler given that the cover art featured her so if you'd kept up on the story you'd realise that Billie was Daud's right hand and seemingly going to be a continuation of the Knife of Dunwall. Sighing deeply thinking this because literally after coming off Dishonored 2 I thought the same thing, maybe the developers or the audience really enjoyed the Knife of Dunwall, and they were just doing more in case the money was there? who knows. The story didn't really deliver either, the connection between Billie and the Outsider... Read More
